Understanding the Supernatural

2 Peter 1:3-4 - “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”
There is a life that we may participate in that is completely empowered by the Holy Spirit
Romans 6:4 - Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Supernatural - The realm of God’s power that transcends natural laws and human understanding. It is where God’s intervention becomes evident in ways that defy logic or reason.
Point 1. Your life as a Christian should defy logic or reason.
Acts 9:21-22 - All who heard him were amazed. “Isn’t this the same man who caused such devastation among Jesus’ followers in Jerusalem?” they asked. “And didn’t he come here to arrest them and take them in chains to the leading priests?” 22 Saul’s preaching became more and more powerful.
1 Corinthians 2:1-5 - When I first came to you, dear brothers and sisters, I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan. 2 For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness—timid and trembling. 4 And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. 5 I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God.
Point 2. The purpose of living a supernatural life is to point people to a supernatural God!
Purpose of the Supernatural:
To glorify God
John 14:13 - And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
To advance the Kingdom of God
Matthew 12:28 - But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
To confirm the message of the Gospel
Mark 16:20 - And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.
Point 3. Supernatural is not what you do, it's who you are.
Galatians 5:16-17 - So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
The supernatural life is obtained by choosing to submit to a victory that’s already been won.
Galatians 2:20 - My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
The reason the world is not seeing Jesus is that Christian people are not filled with Jesus. They are satisfied with attending meetings weekly, reading the Bible occasionally, and praying sometimes. It is an awful thing for me to see people who profess to be Christians live lifeless, powerless, and in a place where their lives are so parallel to unbelievers’ lives that it is difficult to tell which place they are in, whether in the flesh or in the Spirit. - Smith Wigglesworth
Point 4. Your life is a portal for the supernatural.
Acts 1:8 – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Supernatural Portal - an entryway or access point between the physical world and the supernatural realm of God’s presence and power. Biblically, a portal symbolizes moments or places where heaven and earth meet, and divine interaction and intervention occurs.
Concluding Declaration
Today, we declare that we will not cease giving thanks for one another, lifting each other up continually in prayer. We ask that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, would grant us the spirit of wisdom and revelation, that we may grow in the full knowledge of Him.
We declare that the eyes of our understanding are enlightened, that we may know the hope to which He has called us. We stand confident in the riches of His glorious inheritance among His saints, knowing the immeasurable greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the mighty strength He displayed in Christ.
We declare that the same power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at the right hand of God, far above all rule, authority, power, dominion, and every name that is named, is at work in us today. We affirm that Christ reigns not only in this age but also in the age to come.
We declare that all things are under His feet, and He is the head over all things for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way.
In faith, we proclaim Christ’s victory and lordship over all, as we walk in the power of His calling and the richness of His inheritance. -

reading plans all of that that so if you're a part of that I want to encourage you to do that again all my notes are on the U version or what we call uh the Bible app that was a perfect way uh to start out the message because how many you know God wants to move in us and through us and many times we are our own limitation of what God is doing in us how many know sometimes we get in the way my my prayer actually for probably the last year is Lord what you're doing at real life God I do not want to get in
the way and so many times when it comes to our own personal lives we get in the way of the supernatural God come on doing Supernatural things in our lives we are we set the limits on what God wants to do in our lives I remember experiencing the supernatural for the first time when I was 17 years old my friend had gotten radically saved and he invited me to youth group he invited me for about a probably about 8 months of my senior year I finally gave into him and I remember walking in and there was a worship team playing um I didn't know
it at the time but this youth group that I was inviting to was experiencing uh what I know now know as Revival and so when I walk in the room I was like there's something in this room I now know that something was actually of someone God's presence and power was in that place and then later that night I responded by giving my life to Jesus and we were at the altars and I seen teenagers friends that I went to school with and they were praying in a language that I had never heard before I knew they weren't bilingual but
something was happening not understanding it but sensing that it was authentic I remember coming home that evening and my mom was sitting on uh the armchair in the corner of the family room and I remember sharing her my mom was a backsliding Baptist at the time I grew up Catholic my Mom married into an Italian Catholic Family so I grew up uh Catholic and I shared with my mom all that I experienced that night and she looked at me and she goes I think you visited a cult growing up Catholic I always believed in God but the supernatural power I had
experienced that night made me curious made me spiritually curious and caused me to seek him in a way that I never had before in my life and so my journey began and this is what I've learned and I take from that first experience you guys remember that first experience the first Supernatural encounter maybe that you had maybe it's when you walked in this church and you said man there is something going on in this room here's the thing about the Supernatural Supernatural power will always point us
to a more intimate relationship with Jesus and his word everybody say his word word and it will Empower us to activate and cultivate a life that looks lives and leads like heaven it doesn't always always happen automatically you have to be intentional you have to jump in community you have to uh be intentional about equipping yourself signing up for things like the sack healing Christian Prayer Ministry listen these types of things begin to cultivate the supernatural in your life let's look at second Peter verse chapter 1: 3 and 4 it
says this his divine power has given us everything we need we need for a Godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness through these through what through his divine power and knowledge of him that word knowledge means precise and correct so not only do I need his divine power I need precise and correct knowledge about who God is through these things he says he has given us very great and precious promises so that through them I love this you may participate everybody say may
doesn't say you will participate how many you know participating come on is a choice we can be Spectators or we can be participators come on we can cheer on everybody else or we can get in the game he says that you may participate in the divine nature if the holy spirit is living inside of you you have been born again amen how many you thankful for a new beginning but listen it's not just about a new beginning God wants to continue to transform your life and that right there is a choice that you may participate in
the divine nature having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires you see the greatest Supernatural occurrence in life is just what Shandra mentioned it's when the Divine Supernatural power of God breaks the power of the sinful nature in a life and he gives somebody a new nature and so what I'm asking you throughout this series listen Supernatural the sup uh leading supernaturally how to lead like heaven I'm asking you to to invite come on a supernatural God who has Supernatural power to invite him in your
life invite them into that addiction that you can't break come on invite them into that emotional trauma that you can't shake this is what God wants to set us free from 2 Corinthians 5:17 it's a very familiar verse it's not on the screen it says therefore if anyone how you know anyone means anyone if anyone is in Christ that is grafted joined to him by faith in him as Savior he is or she is a new creature reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit the old things the previous moral and spiritual condition of your
life has passed away somebody say hallelujah hallelujah come on how many you know how many you thankful that your old life come on is dead and gone behold new things have come because Spiritual Awakening or the supernatural brings a new life but if we're going to understand what Supernatural living looks like the first thing we have to know is that salvation how many know Salvation is the greatest Miracle some of you not so sure how many know Salvation is the greatest miracle that he could take a life like
mine listen a 17-year-old addicted to drugs listen not seeing his life past the age of 21 and he can save a kid in his senior year come on baptize him in the Holy Spirit come on and give him purpose and give him a plan and give him power to set free from the chains of addiction this is what God can do there is a life that we may participate in that is completely empowered by the holy spirit it's an invitation to us all Romans 6:4 it's one of my favorite Bible verses it's this says therefore we were buried with him
through the Bap through baptism into death that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the father even so we should everybody say should come on how many you know you wish you should have could have would have this is what Romans is this is what Paul is saying in Romans we should walk in the newness of life but why do so many Believers choose not to walk in the newness they choose to walk in the past come on they choose to walk in the oldness of life always looking back thinking that yesterday was better than
today the newness of life if you look into the original meaning of the word it is not just the day you got saved it's a state of life that the Holy Spirit places Us in come on how you know again I'm going to keep reiterating this listen when we get saved he raises us up our spirit man and he seats Us in Heavenly places how many you know that's a good seat to have right there the newness of Life implies a continuous state of transformation so not only did God save you he's supernaturally Renewing Your
Mind he's supernaturally Renewing Your Heart come on he's supernaturally reminding you of your purpose and the promises that he has for your life this is our God just as a caterpillar begins life as something far less glorious how many you like used to like me squish caterpillars I mean I used to find a caterpillar and I'm like man this thing is going to look good in a jar until it dies right the caterpillar is focused only on Survival because how many know deep inside that caterpillar has a hope it
knows it's it knows that a cocoon is coming which represents the tomb or the end of a previous life for that caterpillar but through the process of metamorphosis it's transformed into a Beau beautiful butterfly that one day will fly free and soar in Heavenly places this is the supernatural life it's just like this process it is a complete and radical change brought about by the grace everybody say the grace by the grace of God you see God desires us to live a supernatural lifestyle it's an ongoing
walk empowered by the Holy Spirit more than just being good it represents a completely new mode of existence that aligns with the reality I love this of the resurrection and it's such a challenging question Shandra was asking this to all of us today and I'm going to just reiterate it does my life and my leadership you say Pastor Dean I'm not a leader if you have children you're a leader come on if you have responsibility at work you're a leader come on if you have responsibility in a nonprofit or a community organization
you're a leader come on if you're just all by yourself how many know you've got to lead yourself well you got to make a decision to get out of bed and do what it takes to live a life that God has called you to live does my life and my leadership align with the reality of the Resurrection does my life have an upward trajectory does my life in leadership defy the gravity of corruption that constantly tries to pull me down anybody ever F the pool the supernatural though is often misunderstood or overlooked in the
Christian walk that's for the weirdos any weirdos in the house right right that that's for those extreme folks over there the spiritual gifts oh yeah that's for them never for me it's so often misunderstood in the Christian walk especially when it comes to Leading and influencing our families leading influencing our work life leading and influencing our culture and in our community how do you know God wants you to be naturally Supernatural this is where I make a lot of people mad cuz I've just learned to live
naturally in his presence naturally I'm not trying to let everybody know that I'm operating in the Supernatural power of God I want the supernatural power of God to sneak up on you come on and you're like man I I don't know what that guy is carrying but it's something different about that guy or that lady so what is the supernatural I'm glad you asked it's the realm of God's power that transcends natural law and human understanding anybody ever been baffled by God before it is where God's
intervention becomes evident in ways that defy logic or Reason don't make no sense but he did it you see the Supernatural and this is where we have to get as a church and as a body it is not just reserved for Sunday services oh man that was a good point Pastor Dean Amen brother Hallelujah the super Supernatural is not just meant is not just reserved for Sunday services and yet we have a tendency as Believers to want to be entertained by the supernatural rather than equipped to live a supernatural life that influences
our home the workplace and our community yes yes God does amazing things I love what God is doing in and through real life but what he's doing here on Sundays he can do on your in your marriage on Monday come on he can do at your job on Tuesday he can do in the community man God is opening doors to us in this community I can't wait to share with you I'm going to share with you next week an incredible door that God has asked us to walk through as a church as far as Outreach and influence it's an amazing
amazing opportunity that only God could open up to us better come next week so you find out what that is all right our mission here at real life is to encounter to lead people into an encounter with the Living God and yet God wants our life to be empowered by the power of the Holy Spirit when we leave this place so that we can do the works of the ministry how you know if it works in here but it doesn't work out there we got a problem come on you can shout loud in here but if your shout don't work out there it
don't matter and this leads me really to what I want to share with you it's my first point that I want us to get listen our lives or your life as a Christian should defy logic or Reason yes I think of Saul's conversion Saul who became the Apostle Paul it defied logic or reason he's persecuting Christians he's on his way to Damascus he's on the road to Damascus to go persecute some more Christians and he has this dramatic Vision a bright light from Heaven suddenly shines around him and he hears this voice Saul Saul
why do you persecute me and Saul says who are you he says I am Jesus the one who you are persecuting meanwhile there's a disciple named ananas in Damascus and the Lord speaks to ananas and says hey you know that dude that's persecuting Believers he's coming this way but I've encountered him I'm going to change his life so he'll change the world I need you to lay hands on him he's like you mean lay hands on the dude that's persecuting Christians he's going to lay hands on me Lord ananas
obeys him Saul is baptized and he begins to preach instead of persecute in Damascus how many you know that is Supernatural listen that on on his way God divinely interrupted his life and said you're no longer going to be a persecutor of my church you are going to participate in the divine nature my divine divine plan my Divine Purpose and you're no longer going to destroy the church you're going to help me build my church and I love acts n because I just summarized acts n for you verse 21:22 it says this about the Apostle now he's
Saul still but he's about to become the Apostle Paul it says this all who heard him preach Saul preach it says this were amazed isn't this the same man who caused such Devastation from Jesus's followers in Jerusalem they asked and didn't he come here to arrest them and take them in Chains to the leading priest and it says this Saul's preaching became more and more powerful it reminds me what he wrote to the First Corinth uh to the Corinthian Church in 1 Corinthians chapter 2 veres 1-5 it says this Paul
says this he says when I first came to you dear brothers and sisters I didn't use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God's secret plan I think one of the pitfalls of today's church and I'm including myself in this is that preaching has turned into this we've got pastors and again I Repent I'm one of the first ones to repent trying to impress and convince people rather than influence them with Heaven's power he says this in verse two for I decided everybody say I decided I decied you see
it's a choice I'm going to I know I can lean on my own wisdom Paul was smart he had his degrees he was the Pharisee of Pharisees he knew the word backwards and forwards and yet he made a choice it says that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ the one who was crucified what was Paul saying he said I forgot all my accomplishments all my degrees and I'm crucifying that and I'm not going to lean on my own understanding my old nature I'm going to participate in the divine nature so I see Divine
results in my life he says I came to you in weakness timid and trembling and my message and my preaching were very plain rather than using clever persuasive speeches I love this again here's the choice I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit why did he do this he tells us so you would trust not in human wisdom but the power of God how about if we made the choice to lean into the supernatural Life by relying only on the power of the Holy Spirit Spirit how would your life look different come on instead of come on
taking that situation in your hands but offering up come on and placing it in his hands how we know we can mess things up real easy so what do people say about you when they hear your name and what God is doing in your life it says all who heard were amazed how many you know that's a good goal for the rest of the year all who heard what God was doing in John's life were amazed come on all that heard what was going on in Dave's life were amazed I me know that's amazing how do he get that promotion
after only working here 90 days come on how you know head scratching moments I don't know why but their kids are so well behaved and respectful how you know that takes the Supernatural just right there I wish I knew their secret it seems as though everything they touch turns to Gold anybody knows somebody like that I know you're suffering with envy and come on but you there's people like that you're like man I thought they were headed for divorce but today they're the happiest couple I know can you believe what's happened in
Real Life Church they went off social media for 40 days and people are still coming getting saved and set free on I've told some pastors we're off social media for 4 days they go man bro oh I don't know I don't know listen the best way come on the best way for people to encounter Jesus through your church is through your mouth it's Word of Mouth come on I barely go to a restaurant that I see on social media cuz the food looks good right right I go because somebody recommended and said the service is good the food is good
you'll want to go back come on how you know real life come on the service is good the food is good and people always want to come back Hallelujah so our lies are to defy reason and logic that don't make no people look at my life literally that new me BC even was I I didn't think you GNA make it till you were 20 d people are like amazed secondly the purpose of living a supernatural life is to point people to a supernatural God so what's the purpose of the supernatural number one it's to glorify
God John 14:13 and whatever you ask in my name that I will do that the father may be glorified in the son answered prayer in your life is for people to see God glorified in your life secondly to advance the kingdom of God how you know God wants your life to penetrate new territory for him he wants there are places that you go that I will never go but come on the kingdom in you can go through you Matthew 12:28 but if I cast out demons by the spirit of God surely the kingdom of God has come upon you come on how you know you're going to
wrestle some devils this week on the job just this side of the room how about this side how many know you're going to wrestle some devils this week you just you're going to encounter something that's going to need the supernatural how many you ever had to have supernatural patience before like you are talking to the person they are making you very very upset and under your breath is like God I need your help right here right now your kingdom come your will not my will cuz I want to punch him but anyway not my will but your will be
done casting out demons is not to boast in what we are doing but recogniz recognizing the kingdom of God is advancing I told was telling somebody this week because L when when the supernatural is stirred up in the church you get all kinds of folks all everybody say all kinds all kinds you get and I don't know I I can't explain it I I don't I don't know but this is what I know God begins to draw the broken homeless folks just I don't know how I got here had one homeless man come well I just need to talk to Pastor Dean how did he
know Pastor Dean was the pastor of the church people just drawn I don't because I Believe come on God sees a Church's desire to see people set free supernaturally there's so many people that have been bound up for years have tried listen have tried every program have tried every prescription and nothing has worked why not try super natural prayer listen I I'm not against prescriptions I'm not against programs but what about power what about power coupled with those things or without those things let's give God an opportunity to
do what he wants to do amen and then this third purpose is to confirm the message of the Gospel Mark 16:20 Shandra mentioned this verse it was almost like she saw my sermon before of course he spoke and they went out and preached everywhere the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying of signs this is why I'm trying to share with you what I'm experiencing now I have not experienced in a church in 30 years and so what I'm trying to say is don't discount when when Revival is
happening in the Supernatural power of God is moving God begins to add to his church come on daily weekly this is a part listen if you read the book of Acts this is a part of a sign at least for us that God is doing something here listen I I have pastors calling me every week what are you doing what what formula what what what what strategy and I and I can just point back to this 18 or actually it's almost been uh uh 20 months now listen we as a church we began to pray on Monday mornings from 7:00 to 7:30 we have an
upper zoom and listen that is one of my favorite things I look forward to each and every week because what God is doing listen is above a the plan of a man it's up to God what he's doing I choose to believe that that God can do Way Beyond what I can do with my own strategy come on my own wisdom come on the latest book that I read come on sometimes it's through prayer come on that should be the foundation of who we are it was never God's will that his Believers we should follow signs wonders and miracles but actually that signs
wonders and miracles would follow the good news we were preaching and telling people about as an active participant in God's divine nature a nominal Christian life being a Christian in name only is no longer an option if you're going to live a life beyond what's reasonable and logical here's what I'm trying to say my third Point Supernatural is not what you do it's who you are everybody say hm cuz you're looking me with that look all right this is what we learned in the school of Victory I am
a spirit I have a soul I live in a body will you say that with me I am spirit I have a soul I live in a body a supernatural lifestyle grows from the Revelation that I have the person of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of me not only living in the inside of me but the spirit of God is increasing and growing in my life each and every day everybody say intentional intentional listen you're either going to grow intentionally or die gradually through through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the baptism of the Holy
Spirit Believers are empowered to live according to God's will overcoming sinful desires that are part of Fallen nature Galatians 5:116 uh chapter 5: F uh 16 and 17 says this so I say let the holy spirit guide your lives how many know that's good advice right there then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves this is why we're doing the digital detox the digital fast come on how you know we like to tap our phones way more than we like to tap into the Holy Ghost it's just honest like I I'm I'm
struggling with it too right I I realize how I'm my my phone usage was 60% down from the previous week before we started the fast 60% I was tapping scrolling not sleeping listen the last three nights I was I just been reading the devotionals I put my phone in in our bathroom so that when I wake up I don't tap the phone first even to check up what time it is because what I was finding out is I would tap the phone see what time it was and then all of a sudden I see the notifications hello listen the last three nights I've
slept solid I'm I'm not a great sleeper the last three nights I put my phone in my in the I think it's supernatural I'm like thank you Jesus you know I'm sleeping like 6 hours straight before I got to get up that's amazing anyway that's free the sinful nature wants to do evil which is just the opposite of what the spirit of God wants and the spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires these two forces are constantly fighting each other so you are not free to carry out

or in the spirit how many you know that's a challenging quote right there and here's the question I have for you what place are you in today are you being transformed by the supernatural power of God or are you conforming to the patterns of this world you see the Christian life doesn't stop at overcoming your naughty nature and just being good while Christians are still in this physical body we are subject to Natural laws like gravity come on Aging come on have you noticed a few more wrinkles than you did
come on the week before just me okay death we experience a spiritual transformation that trans transcends our mere natural limitations we still face suffering I was with with a family yesterday in hospice by their bedside We're still praying we're still believing praying God's Supernatural peace in the situation we still face suffering we still face death and the challenges of of this natural world yet we also have access everybody say access access to divine power through prayer faith and the miraculous Supernatural intervention
of God which can override the natural limitations we experience in this world this is where I'm going to pick up next week and I'm going to leave you with this and this is the last thing your life was intended to be a portal for the super natural a supernatural Porter I'm going to close with this an entryway or access point between the physical world and the supernatural realm of God's presence and power biblically a portal symbolize moments or places where Heaven and Earth meet and divine interaction and intervention
occurs this is what your life was meant to be a portal for people come on to get a glimpse of Heaven listen so that they could glorify Jesus Christ the son of the Living God and this is again why we're doing the digital fast we've given listen everyone access come on we've we've submerged ourselves in excess and yet heaven doesn't have access to move in us and through us with every head bowed and every eye closed today maybe you're totally disconnected to a supernatural God who can supernaturally

declaration before we go is that all right all right I want you to pray this prayer throughout the rest of this series it's actually in the U verion Notes you can pray it each and every day but I want us to declare on the count of three let's uh pray it in unison or declare it in unison 1 2 3 today we declare that we will not cease giving thanks for one another lifting each other up continually in prayer we ask that the god of our Lord Jesus Christ the father of Glory would grant us the spirit of wisdom and Revelation that we
may grow in the full knowledge of him we declare that the eyes of our understanding are enlightened that we may know the hope to which he has called us we stand confident in The Riches of his glorious inheritance among his Saints knowing the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe according to the mighty strength he displayed in Christ we declare that the same power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him at the right hand of God far above all rule Authority power dominion and every name that is named is at work
in us today we affirm that Christ Reigns not only in this age but also in the age to come we declare that all things are under his feet and he is the head over all things for the church which is his body the fullness of him who fills everything in every way in faith we Proclaim Christ's Victory and lordship over all as we walk in the power of His calling and the richness of his inheritance can we give God praise Hallelujah I'm going to ask our prayer ministers to come if you need prayer in any area of your life our prayer
